My stay down here on Coronado Island is rapidly coming to a close. I’m neither happy or sad about it. Apathy and indifference is all that consumes me right now. I need to shape up though, I have the Pasadena Marathon coming up at the end of the month. I am so not focused on it though. Like when I was in college, I tend to cram for everything.
Speaking of the Pasadena Marathon, I was thinking about those freak ass bastards. If you remember, the PM was originally set for November, I think, and then it got cancelled because of the fires in LA that messed up the air. All of the registrants, did not get their money back and to re-register, they only had to pay half of the normal fee ~ $80. My brother was registered to run the first one with me but refused to register for the second one due to principles. Initially, I wanted to be a good supporter of a local event but I was thinking about it and wow! What a bunch of thieves. These guys are no different than the idiots from AIG using taxpayer money to throw themselves crazy parties to celebrate their role in the destruction of our economy and for many their way of life. I will run this marathon but only so that I can drop my pants and defecate at the finish line as a sign of protest and when I get out of jail, I will officially boycott the event going forward. During the day we all headed over to Balboa Park for some fun in the sun. We saw this Puppet Theater in the park and figured it would be a nice way to chill and provide Buddy some visual stimulation. It cost $5 per adult. It was quite campy, as you can imagine, but it was good for kids. Buddy got restless / bored after about 5 minutes and spent the rest of the time running around the theater terrorizing everybody. Yes, I have one of those kids, and yes, I am one of those parents that don’t really give a shit. But you know, I won’t be one of those parents that takes their baby to the movie theater so I should get some points. So for dinner we headed over to the “Burger Lounge” which serves a very simple menu of burgers, fries and onion rings. I read it was good so I thought we’d check it out.
We started off with the “½ and ½ Onion Rings and Fresh Cut Fries” which cost $4.95. It was good. My wife loved it as they were well seasoned and had a garlic flavor.
I got the “Grilled Lounge Burger” which cost $7.95. I freaking loved this burger. The bread was toasted and very fluffy. It came with grilled onions, provolone and a homemade thousand island dressing. And testament to the greatness of this burger, I needed very little ketchup.
My wife got the “Grilled Turkey Burger w/ Fresh Basil” which cost $7.95. Good.
After dinner, we started walking down Orange Avenue, the main drag in Coronado, and ran into these dudes grilling up tacos. It cost $2.50 a taco and huge. You could choose from chicken or beef. Plus they had a great salsa bar and get this, unlimited freshly made guacamole. We were stuffed, but we were able to power a few more down.
This is the way I spend the day: Chilling on the patio, drinking Samuel Adams and reading National Geographic. Burger Lounge922 Orange AvenueCoronado, CA 92118Tel: 619-435-6835Mon – Sat: 11AM – 9PMSunday: 11AM – 8PM
