I had the chance to hook up with some of my business school friends for dinner.  For those that don’t know, I went to graduate school in the heartland of America.  At Indiana University in the great state of Indiana.  Don’t ask how a kid from Southern California ended up at IU.  It’s a really long complicated story but needless to say, I made some good friends out there and it was a good experience.

My wife made me cancel all my AMEX funded vacations. When she made me run all the numbers, a free plane ticket just didn't warrant all the additional costs. Oh well. You know, it's kind of a relief. Now I have more money to spend on drugs and strippers. Seriously, I actually do have more money for drugs and strippers. But I am sure she'll put the kabosh on that as well.

So it's been about a week since the Olympics have ended and we have 4 years to let the anticipation for the London Olympics.  For somebody like me who is a huge sports fan, its time to reflect a bit on the Olympics.  When it comes to non-mainstream sports, nothing beats the Olympics and the World Cup.  They are my favorite events because of two things (a) outside of war, nothing evokes more patriotism and (b) you have the best athletes in the world leaving everything they have on the field.
